Ofsted Rates The British School as Good and Offering High Quality Education
The British School in Wotton-Under-Edge is delighted to have received a positive inspection from Ofsted who judged that the primary school had taken effective action to maintain their good standards.
The report highlighted that pupils learn a broad and ambitious curriculum, that the school has a warm and positive atmosphere and that pupils live up to high expectations of their behaviour.
The Ofsted inspector, who visited the school on 7th and 8th May, noted that;
“Pupils receive a high-quality education and achieve well as a result.”
“Pupils know the school’s values well. They are very motivated to demonstrate support, courage and resilience. The school celebrates when they do.
Pupils benefit from a range of clubs and extra-curricular activities. They readily take part in sports, arts and crafts, and gardening club.
“The school meets the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) well. It adapts the curriculum to build from pupils’ starting points and checks precisely how well pupils are developing their knowledge and skills.”
“The school prepares pupils to be responsible and active citizens.”
The report also noted that “Governors and leaders are highly reflective and make necessary improvements to enhance the school’s effectiveness.”
Headteacher, Abel Roche, is delighted that the report reflects the warmth, hard work and positivity of the community at the British School. He says;
“This brilliant Ofsted report is a result of the hard work and dedication from the whole school community – teachers, TA’s , support staff, governors, parents and most importantly our amazing children, who are a credit to the school!”
