We are seeking to appoint a highly effective, caring, enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team for 13.75 hours per week term time only. The role is fixed term for 1 year and 1 term, however the contract is attached to the child. If the child's needs change or they leave the school, the contract will change/end with sufficient notice.

 

The right candidate will have a proven record of accomplishment of working with pupils with Special Educational Needs, including Autism, ADHD and associated difficulties.

 

Job Purpose:

To work 1:1 or in small groups/ whole class situations supporting a child in year 5

 

The right person will have:

  • experience working with pupils with social communication difficulties and associated difficulties.

  • Be able to support pupils with social interactions during unstructured lunch times.

  • Be able to improve the communication and interaction of the supported pupil.

  • Has a proven record of accomplishment of working with pupils with Special Educational Needs and of delivering a personalised curriculum in either SEN settings or mainstream schools.

  • Has specialist knowledge of how to support a young person with social communication difficulties.

  • Will be able to challenge the cognition and learning of the pupil.

  •  Be able to work on Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) targets.

  • Is used to working closely with the Class Teacher, SENCO and external professionals.

  • Has vision, energy and enthusiasm for this challenge and has excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.

  • Is experienced in establishing and maintaining good professional relationships.

The hours are Monday to Friday 12:30-3:15
