Summer Term 2021 - Hakuna Matata!
Our topic this term is called Hakuna Matata! This topic will give children the opportunity to ask questions and discover other cultures, types of family and traditions. We will be learning about our local community and immersing ourselves in learning about a non-European country through stories, music and art. We will build a repertoire of songs and dances. We will also continue to learn about animal habitats and where different animals live. Children will explore different types of homes and begin to use and draw simple representations of maps. Children will prepare and cook a range of meals from around the world.
Autumn Term 2020 - 2020
Our topic this term is called 'Once Upon a Time'. This topic will allow children in the EYFS to explore topics that are familiar to them on entry to school. We will explore the history of significant people, dinosaurs and read some traditional tales. Children will be introduced to a wide range of stories and begin representing these stories and their own through helicopter story sessions and through creating story maps. Talk for writing will allow children’s story telling language to develop. Children will have the opportunity to talk about and share their journey before school and how they have changed over time. Traditional tales will open up discussions on good and bad choices as children learn new routines in school. Children will learn simple maths concepts through the use of numbers and mathematical language in traditional tales. Planning will follow children’s interests on significant events from far or recent history.
